In the wedding industry, there are few compliments that mean more than when a family returns to you for a second (or third, or fourth) time. It's happened to me several times in my career, and I always get the biggest smile on my face when I get that first excited email from a familiar name. I photographed the first of the Mauldin sisters' weddings a few years ago (Melissa & Chad at the Whitlock Inn in Marietta), and got to know the whole family then. So, when Melissa's sister Katie approached me to shoot her wedding at Cedar Plantation, I was absolutely thrilled! The Mauldins are just the best. We photographed their engagement session back in the spring, and it was so fun that I knew Chelsea and I would have a blast on their wedding day. It was like celebrating with family. Happy tears, hugs, and all.
One of my absolute favorite parts of Katie and Joey’s day was seeing their four grandmothers as the flower girls. I mean, how precious is this? These ladies were absolute dolls. Also – if you’ve ever wondered why photographers love to shoot during golden hour – let Katie and Joey's post-wedding portraits be a shining example. All. The. Perfect. Light. And the way Joey looks at Katie? Swoon. They met in high school, and their love is so sweet and so genuine.
Plus, any wedding day that wraps up with some portrait time in a twinkly-lit gazebo is pretty dang awesome in my book.
Love you, Katie and Joey!
